Picked this up as a value buy - was $42.99 at a Hyvee in MN (store barrel pick) - Figured more than a reasonable price for a cask strength, 5 year pour. Nose is sweet and dripping with brown sugar...solid dose of ethanol here lets you know this is high ABV. Digging deeper I get some vanilla and oak staves...just a bit of spice on the edges suggest a bit of rye in the bill (and yes, there is...). Water does some nice work, really allowing the vanilla to emerge. Flavor is quite hot...the ABV/youthfulness are evident - nothing offensive, but it feels like its overwhelming some other aspects. Water does wonders for this dram...much more vibrant after the heat is tempered. The vanilla comes back out on the palate alongside some sweet milky caramel. Finishes at a medium length and is overall on the sweeter end of the spectrum. Definitely enjoyed this with a few drops which allowed just a bit more complexity to emerge. Good bourbon, and a nice value at the price I snagged this bottle for...

I love cask-strength whiskeys and this is one of my favorites! The Patton Road Reserve is unique, and I mean that in the best way. I have Batch #1 and at 127-proof, this is an easy sipper that doesn't require water. The heirloom red corn provides a larger amount of starch which gives this whiskey a very unique, custard flavor, with brioche and toffee flavors. Then, the custard returns for a long finish. Rating on a Bottle, Bar or Bust scale, I absolutely say pick up the bottle! Cheers!

This is extremely well balanced. There is spice and vanilla in the nose. The palate is creamy with butterscotch, dark chocolate and baking spices. There are some wood notes (probably oak but maybe cedar) in the mid palate. The finish is long with cinnamon, cherry and honey. Be careful! This 120 proof but doesn’t feel like it.

Batch No. 08, Bottle No. 212 - 59.9% Alc. Exceptional full flavored sipping bourbon. Nice warmth on the finish. Easy to drink despite the high proof. Visited the Henry Farm for the tour and tasting. Wonderful people. They are focused on producing a quality product and in my opinion have succeeded. Highly recommend!

When in Rome....or Wisconsin. Figured I'd pick up a bottle while in Wisconsin. Meh. Heavy vanilla nose. Expected a hotter nose given the proof. Palate is grain heavy and vanilla, not surprising given the young age. Oily and sustained finish. Way overpriced given all the other much better options out there.
