Great release from Jameson! On the nose, the Five Oak Cask Release offers a harmonious bouquet of ripe orchard fruits, honeyed sweetness, and delicate spices. Aromas of baked apple, fresh pear, and caramelized brown sugar mingle with subtle floral hints, inviting you to explore further. There is a rich undertone of toasted oak, evidence of the unique five-oak maturation, lending a depth that is both intriguing and comforting. The palate is wonderfully layered, revealing a rich tapestry of flavors. Initially, there is a burst of creamy toffee and vanilla, followed by vibrant notes of dark chocolate, dried apricot, and a whisper of black pepper. The influence of the five different oak types is palpable, adding a varied texture and a warm, tannic character that enhances the whiskey's complexity. The mouthfeel is velvety and full-bodied, with each sip unveiling a different facet of the flavor profile. The finish is long and satisfying, with lingering notes of spiced oak, roasted nuts, and a hint of sweet malt. The balance of sweetness and spice is masterfully executed, leaving a warming, elegant aftertaste that beckons another sip. This release truly exemplifies the potential of single pot still Irish whiskey, capturing the essence of five distinct oaks while delivering an experience that is as intricate as it is enjoyable. Overall Rating: 98/100 Jameson Single Pot Still Five Oak Cask Release is an exceptional choice for whiskey enthusiasts looking for something with depth, character, and an innovative twist on a classic style. Whether enjoyed neat or with a drop of water to open up the flavors, this whiskey promises a memorable tasting journey.

I had the pleasure to taste this new release a few months before its premiere on our market. This is a Five Oak Cask Release, which is matured in a combination of three different types of virgin oak (Irish, European and American) and in addition to ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. As you may guess, because of the Single Pot Still and the virgin oaks, the whole whiskey is dominated by spices. On the nose - wood-driven spices of cinnamon, complimented by salted caramel a vanilla. Earthy, grassy feeling in addition to peel of green zesty fruits could be felt on the nose as well. On the palate you can now feel more of the bourbon casks and also the sherry - dark chocolate feeling, toffee and oranges, all covered with wood spices while finishing. I've tasted much better single pot stills to be honest, although that is not one of the bad ones!

Jameson is probably not a brand that a malt drinker would choose voluntarily, so this single pot still was a rather pleasant surprise. On the nose, I'm met with orchard fruits, lemon peel and mild spices, and there are cut flowers, pine sap and rich notes of barley. It's very rounded and appealing. Honey, peppery spices and a touch of banana unfold on the palate, balanced off by floral, herbal and slightly resinous flavors. Silky mouthfeel. The medium-length finish lingers with green tea, marzipan and pears. A pretty solid expression, who would have thought! RATING: 3.5/5.0 stars ≙ 83 pts → ABOVE AVERAGE

Nose: Milk chocolate, caramel and wafer biscuits. It reminds me of Tunnock's wafer caramel. A touch of spiciness. Palate: Soft. Chocolate covered spicy ginger. Finish: The spices increase in intensity and introduces some stewed apple.

Baking spice, vanilla and heavy oak on the nose. More vanilla on the palate alongside rich spice and hints of candied fruit. The finish is long and spicy with more oak and vanilla rounding it off.
