Appearance: Deep tobacco hue with a slight rose tint given by the finish in the Bordeaux Wine Barrels. Legs: Slow forming needle like tears that taper down to a teardrop right before the surface of the bourbon. Nose: Extremely floral notes at the beginning, heavy wine, fruit (red apple, blackberry, red cherries) rich/ buttery oak. Taste: Not a heavy bite, but a steady and pleasant acidity throughout sip to the finish. Wine as expected, smooth buttery oak like on the nose. Sweet and rich. Enjoyable from start to finish.
Jefferson's Grand Selection Château Pichon Baron French Oak Cask Finish
About this bottle
This is a sourced, straight Kentucky bourbon that was initially matured in traditional new, charred oak. As a tribute to the brand's namesake, President Thomas Jefferson, a known oenophile, the bourbon is given an additional maturation in ex-Pichon Barron French Bordeaux wine casks as well as toasted French oak staves. It is bottled at 90 proof.

Finished in Bordeaux wine barrels. The wine finish is well balanced on the nose, and complements the Bourbon. The palate follows through with the nose, with the wine cask intertwined and balanced harmoniously with the Bourbon. Easily the finest Bourbon that's been finished that I've had!! At $130 it's hard to call this a bargain, but have tried many costing much more that were not of this quality. My score was 95.5
Nose - corn, berry, cherry, rich caramel, sweet wine, vanilla, clove, rye spice, moderate ethanol burn. Taste - toffee, butterscotch, cracked pepper, red wine, grape, spicy vanilla, mild to moderate alcohol bite, finishing quickly with fading tannic, sour red wine flavor. The wine flavor is interesting, but I don’t like the sour finish on it.
The nose is noticeably different and piques interest. Smells full and rich with flavor. Soft on the lips and unique profile on the taste buds. The aftertaste lingers a bit, in a good way. Pleasing choice when wanting to change it up a bit from standard bourbon.
Good bourbon without a doubt. Im bias towards Jeffersons so i enjoyed this. Very expensive. Theres a bit of a bite and good all around flavors.
