About this bottle

This is the seventh voyage or release from Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea and the first bottled at cask strength, a hefty 56% ABV. For the collection, barrels that have been aging bourbon for about 6 to 8 years are transferred to a ship that sails for several months at sea. This well-traveled bourbon has crossed the equator 4 times and hit 30 ports of call on 5 different continents before being bottled.

This little gem I found was surprisingly excellent. On the nose there were not a whole lot of notes I found besides being salty. However, the taste was bursting with salt, various fruits, and of course the cast strength pulled it all together. The cast strength did not over power the tastes at all, it accented them very well.

I love the story of this spirit but was not blown away by the taste. Compared to normal Jefferson’s, the taste of the Ocean aged reminded me of Woodford. It has more of the bright, spices flavoring than the vanilla, flat Jefferson’s small batch. Good drink, better story, not a bad buy.

Voyage 20. Sweet smelling, super sweet on the lips and toung. Smooth, nice barrel flaver with no after taste. Stays warm in the stomach. I will have a good cigar next time i pull the bottle from my shelf! Neat as usual and as it should be.

Really good but expensive, which makes it hard to but a bottle. And still a small batch, not single barrel so hard to justify. But the few glasses I've had were really, really good.

I enjoyed the sample I got, really something different about this dram, I’m assuming the aged at sea has something to do with it. Definitely picking up a bottle when I can

Smells of sherry oak and wood chips. Texture is soft and light, tastes a bit buttery with more of that oaky flavor. Finish short and to the point with a very light spice.
