About this bottle

The straight bourbons from Jefferson's Ocean Aged At Sea collection have aged around 6 to 8 years on land, before the barrels are sent off to travel at sea for several months. The OCEARCH research vessel covers 5 different continents and 30 ports of call. For Voyage 20, the vessel left Savannah, Georgia on June 2019 and returned in November 2019.

First time trying a glass neat. Nose - sweet, oaky, salty, sugary sweet. Taste - starts overall very sweet with a sugar overload. Cinnamon, salty sweet treat that ends rather bitter and salty. Overall - personally glad I didn’t purchase this bottle because I feel it’s over priced. The juice is overall good but the 80 plus price point doesn’t justify it.

Tested against voyage 16 & 19. Still think 19 is the best I've had but this is a close second. Unlike 16 it goes down fairly smooth has a nice caramel flavor to it (keep in mind my palate is bad). I prefer the 19 which is wheated, but this goes down smooth enough in a blind test I doubt I'd know the difference.

Sweet up front, slight brine on the back. Take that first sip and hold it to get rid of any burn. Wish the brine was a bit stronger to give it a salted caramel taste while retaining the bite. Overall-great. No regrets. Would seek it out after getting it as a gift!

Tasting neat in a Glencairn glass: Nose is full of corn and burnt wood and dark cherry with slight cinnamon. Palate offers soft, sweet and spicy wood with underlying honey and corn. Finish is smooth with subtle wood and vanilla.

Tasted this guy along side the Voyage 17... I am a big fan of the voyage 17, and I think I’ll take the 20 as far as flavor goes. This is a great drinker with a really good finish. All that you would expect from Jefferson’s!

Tastes about 10 years older than it is. This voyage is smoother than others I’ve sampled. Still not worth the price. Found a case at Costco for low $60s, though.
