Rating: 11/23 Hmm, I just realized that I have Jura Origin 10 and also this Jura 10. Distiller shows Jura 10 bottled at 40% and peated, whereas this is 43% and doesn't seem peated, so I don't know what's up here or what this is. Still, I thought that Jura Origin 10 was surprisingly good, so this will probably be better! N: Not much happening here. Something kind of like roots (vegetal), faint ethanol, light sweetness that suggests fruit (but is barely present), a tad of raw meat, the faintest honey. This is forgettable and obviously young, I don't expect great things from this. P: Sweet but also lots of ethanol. Just too much ethanol. That fades into honey, but from there it's pretty bland. Late on the palate, some earthy and vegetal character comes out, but it's still faint. Grassy as well. The tiniest bit of savoriness that is (mercifully) roasted rather than raw. A bit of spicy burn throughout, but no harshness. The spices do add an alcohol burn though and it really isn't that pleasant. Something tastes a little off here. F: Mostly just bland and mellow with forgettable sweetness and lingering spicy burn. There is a bit of a backbone of something between brioche and cookie dough that I like though. - Conclusion - I'm terribly disappointed by this. It's a big step down from Jura Origin 10. The alcohol is more present here and the product is less coherent and complex. For comparison, Compass Box Artist's Blend (13/23) is an easy win over this, whereas it clearly lost to Jura Origin 10. This is a little behind Three Scottish Brothers 20 (12/23). I'm thinking of a 9 to 11 for this one. Most likely a 9 or 10. Choosing now, I'd go for a 9. Coming back for a final taste, I think that I was a bit hard on this the first time. It now seems closer to Three Scottish Brothers 20 than it did before. After some more comparison, I think an 11 is appropriate for this. I did seriously consider a 10 for a bit though.
