Nose- floral like honeysuckle flowers with a touch of caramel, and some brown sugar. Palate- Upon entry, a little bit of herbaceous black tea, then sweeter notes like nougat, followed by some oak, a bit of ethanol which is tempered with a few drops of water. There is a pop of waxy candy corn followed by bit-o-honey candy bar. Staged nicely, and the honey is not over done Finish- the finish is long and this is where the cask finish comes in. You go out in a pop of clover honey. Overall- A nice, not a great bottle here. The pros- for a honey finished bourbon this doesn't over do it. It is bourbon first with a touch of honey, not bourbon that tastes like honey as a sweetener. The finish is its strength as it is well balanced and staged through the end. The cons- the price! This is a premium price for an NAS with no distinct provenance. To pull that off this must wow me. It doesn't do that. Instead it is just interesting, nice sipping bourbon, finished properly, in a great looking bottle for over $100.00.
