I didn't rate this? Well, lets fix that. This is my 2022 worst whisky I've had. I really don't feel the need to add more to it. It's complete trash imo and I'm at a complete loss as to why people like it. Issues - it's straight up off the still young, only masked slightly by the actually really nice sweet port note upfront only to be ruined by communion wine on the finish. The alcohol is harsher that you'd like. You can taste the still notes. It tastes like grain when it's a malt whisky. Good - well the port sweetness is good for about 0.1 seconds upfront. Neutral - it's not as hot as some terrible whiskies. I don't get this at all, it might be my least favorite AND worst whisky quality review. There are whiskies I just don't like, KK8 57.1, but I can get where someone likes it and even why someone would score it say an 83-85. This is way worse and yet oddly way more in my wheel house because I love fresh port and it does have some good port notes for a second or two. I wish I could give this a negative score, but 0.25 is the lowest score available. This should be -100 to add true scale to this.

Campbeltown funk and port sweetness magic come together again. Nose: Toffee, Honey, Blueberries, Figs, Violets, Lavender, Raisins, Mackerels, Watermelon, Graepfruit, Strawberries, Roses Palate: Nutella, Raisins, Luxardo Cherries, Lavender, Smoke, Barbecue Pork Ribs, Toffee, Grapefruit, Roses, Blueberries, Bubblegum, Cloves, Cinnamon, Treacle Finish: Blueberries, Salted Caramel, Honey, Toffee, Vanilla, Grapefruit, Prunes
My exploration of a dozen Campbeltown samples has been disappointing. Seems overrated, an acquired taste at best. This is salty, more port in the mid palate (a ton) than I’ve tasted in any single malt scotch, then licorice, pepper, and berries in the finish. More interesting than good.
Second tasting i can appreciate it for what it is. A port bomb. All of the other port matured whiskys I’ve dried are less port forward. This is drenched in dark port notes. The vidcosity and abv of scotch with the flavors of port. Licorice and less prominently berries
A rare dud from Kilkerran. There are some nice flavors in there, but it's overwhelmed by heavy sulfur, especially on the nose. Borderline drain pour, but I'll give it some time to oxidize, since I have a bottle.
Try it with chocolate and completely changes the profile, amazing five stars!
