The nose is sweet and rich of charred oak, peat and barely, with touches of brine and smoke in the background. There is almost a creaminess to it that is very inviting. It also comes off as quite gentle considering it is cask strength. The palate starts slow as black pepper, peat and smoke build up, eventually filling the mouth with a wonderful chew. The smoke is underlying, holding it all together in a very nice way. Softer notes of barley, leather and vanilla take a back seat, but balance everything very well. This is tame for what it is, which isn't a bad thing. It has great intensity of flavor without being too smokey or medicinal. The finish is medium with lingering oak, peat and barley, along with a slight chew that keeps the mouth tingling a bit. This is a great intro to heavily peated, cask strength Scotch, although it could stand to be smokier if it is going to be labeled as being heavily peated. Otherwise, this is thoroughly enjoyable.

It’s hot at 57.4% its full-on. A few drops of water bring back that heat and mellow it just enough. There is a buttery and oaky funk that I identify as apricot. The peat is high and the smoke is medium. Overall a VERY premium scotch.

Nose: sour apples, smoke Palate: tropical fruit, peat, ash Finish: ash, more sourness There are some hints of greatness in here but the sourness is very off putting.
