Nose - from a foot away it's like smelling a pancake breakfast with lots of pure maple syrup Taste - slight burn with more maple flavor Finish - a toasty and slight smokey follow through Score - 3.5, so this is hard to rate since as a desert it's solid. No way would I just sip this regularly. Maybe make some mixed drinks or cook with it as well. Scoring Legend 5.0 - Outstanding, unmatched to others 4.5 - Excellent, I will always keep a bottle in stock if possible 4.0 - Very good, quite enjoyable to drink, can consider as a solid choice 3.5 - Good, would taste again 3.0 - Average 2.5 - Acceptable, still drinkable 2.0 - Inferior, able to drink but not enjoyable 1.5 and below—wouldn’t drink again unless I am desperate
About this bottle
Master Distiller Fred Noe credits his father as inspiration for Knob Creek's first expression of flavored whiskey. Booker Noe, his father, was the previous Master Distiller for 40 years and known as "The Innovator." Along with innovating bourbon, he also enjoyed smoking his own meats and making his own maple syrup. This Kentucky straight bourbon is blended with natural flavors and bottled at 90 proof.

Very maple sweet on the tip of the tongue, with hints of vanilla. The bourbon flavors at the least share the stage, if not take a back seat to the dessert nature of the dram. Syrupy thick mouthfeel almost fools the mind into thinking it's oilier than it is. Could literally be used poured over vanilla ice cream. This is a niche pour, but well executed in that niche.
NEAT This literally smells and tastes like a bourbon mixed with your basic maple syrup. I can’t stand it neat since I dont drink maple syrup alone, so I resorted to putting it in my hot toddies when I’m sick until the bottle is gone. If you enjoy flavored whiskeys from Ol’ Smoky Moonshine, then you’ll likely love this one.
Tarnished brass in color. Real sticky. Ultra syrupy. This smells like a sugar shack in the mountains of Virginia. It's not lost on me that it's bourbon, but it is definitely defined almost entirely by maple syrup. It's a wonderful holiday treat and would pair well with a stack of pancakes!
Lots of maple. I really like it but feel like I’d like it more if it had more whisky and less maple. Would be a possible home run with a little smokiness as well. Slightly over a hint of maple would be great. Still, this is enjoyable for what it is. Easy drinking. Very very smooth.
Talk about dessert. The maple syrup and vanilla smell that hot your nose as soon as you bring the glass to your face send sparks to your eyes. It tastes like a buttered pancake with Canadian (not American) maple syrup. Next time you want dessert, grab a glass of this neat 👌
