An elegant, certified as both organic & kosher, Barrel aged dry Gin by Koval Distillery in Chicago, Illinois. It is crafted with the same prized recipe as the Dry Gin, matured in Koval's ex-Whisky casks before being bottled at 94 proof. It has an aromatic birth with notes of berries, wood, flowers, herbs & spices; while a slightly creamy life adds notes of caramel, honeyed thyme, coriander & rose; that led to a balanced death of medium length with notes of charred oak, vanilla & nutmeg. About this bottle
The Barreled Gin is a recent (Spring 2016) addition to Koval’s wide breadth of products. They are a grain-to-glass operation that likes to experiment and push boundaries. They age their traditional dry gin for six months in barrels that previously held Koval’s whiskey.

Smell hits you with the botanicals and tells you it’s a gin with a bit of burn. You taste and it reveals its true form, there’s a good amount of orange bitters in here along with the spice from the aging. I found its evolution length a bit short, but the highlights here go to its surprise/unexpected taste.
Clean, crisp, pine and juniper taste. The aging leaves it with an amazing sweet floral taste. Love this!
This is good but St George, Barr Hill and Ransom do a better job at the gin-whiskey, gwhiskey, game.
Fruity, laced with botanicals. Barrel adds a sweetness that makes it almost a cocktail already.
Woody?! This is caramelized orange rind with slight floral notes and a dark sugar finish
