Nose - Gentle smoke, smoked lemon zest, earth/dirt, light pear, mineraly (w/ water) Much more vibrant, less smoky Taste - Salt, sweet cured meat, hint of minerals, earth, bright/vibrant mouthfeel, light pear & lemon zest (w/ water) Opens up a bit more but pretty much the same Finish - Trailing salty smoke, light savory vibe, lemon zest (w/ water) same Score - 83/100 Final Thoughts - This felt quite muted at first but really opened up with a bit of water. From the nose and palate, this felt like this was primarily an ex-bourbon maturation with either a cask or two of some light colored sweet wine finish (if that). Loads of salt with a hint of smoke and a nice savory cured meat punch that makes this feel like it'd be great dram to enjoy by a summer campfire by the lake. It was nice, but nothing special. Would I drink it if offered? - Yes Would I specifically order it? - No Would I buy a bottle? - No NOTE - All reviews are done without factoring in price.

Another bottle I feel the urge to give it some justice... Just one rating so far and far too low for the quality of this whisky. Tasted almost a year ago so I don’t have precise tasting notes but remember being some points above the 2017 Jazz Ed., that was already a great bottle. More creamy & sweet and less sooty and peaty than the 12 series, this one probably have some Oloroso cask in the mix and/or some kind of wine finish. I also could bet that the average age of this one is older. As per the Ledaig 13 review, I promise detailed tasting notes as soon as I open my bottle. 4.75 for now, but I have the feeling I’ll change this for a full 5 stars after trying it again.

One of the best examples of a peated Islay that you won't regret buying, if you ever get the chance. It takes the 16's profile and expands it further. If you're already a fan of Lagavulin's main releases, you'll love this too. It's really a treat to drink a malt as they were intended 100+ years ago.

Aroma is fantastic, broad and incredibly spicy. Peppery. Wood, spice, and deep deep smoke on the tongue, that perfect Islay richness to carry it all. Molasses caramel sweetness, fully balanced package. Absolutely fantastic, would be perfect with a tad less proof.

This came in too hot for me, even after some water. Long finish with not too much peat and plenty of saltiness from the sea. Very rich and needs some time to peel apart and appreciate.

Might not be the same year, this says 53.5% abv. A lot of acetone, dry but resinous, bell peppers and black pepper, ashy smoke
