About this bottle
Los Amantes sources espadín agaves from a small consortium of small village palenques throughout Oaxaca. The brand uses traditional methods in mezcal production including a stone tahona to crush the cooked agaves. This reposado spends up to 8 months in clay and new American oak. Los Amantes translates to "The Lovers" and is named for the ancient Aztec legend of Mayahuel, the goddess of the maguey plant and fertility.

Smoky tequila nose; fantastic representative of a smoky mezcal, honestly excellent—fruity, honey, Smokey, and vegetal flavor; a little spicy; thin; finishes clean and vegetal celery
Nose smells more like tequila. Palate is better. There’s a lot here. Mild smoke. Sweet throughout. Pepper that stays on the tip of the tongue for a while.
Smooth, with a deep agave taste but not overly smoky
Miel ahumada, clavo, y minerales. 23/1/19 (cumple)
Very tequila- like, smoke is almost non-existant
