Starting to explore American single malts and so far I am liking what I am tasting. Texas is producing some great whiskeys and Balcones has certainly gained the respect of the drinking community. Color is is light hay, the nose is astringent, but deep malty and sweet, palate orchard fruit and caramel with the malt playing a subtle but noticeable part. The finish is medium to long with the orchard fruit staying put. Lots of depth, very pleased with this. Great alternate to typical ryes and bourbons
