Taste... Such complexity with major notes of spice, and buttery viscosity. The grass and mature aspects come through.. Color... Dark amber to burnt orange Nose... So rich and fruity. Complex, setting you up for tasting... Overall... This ruined my entire night of drinking because I had the misfortune of tasting this first and the rest was downhill. Such great flavor from the first taste to the last. Herbal, grassy and rich.. don't pass this up.....

I find this to be good, that is, not bad, but not something that brings me back for more. The term “plain vanilla” is overused for flavors, but I think it really pertains to this bottling. This is smooth, predictable, and just kind of ok. There is no edge to it that defines its flavor profile, it tastes like scotch. If you have a friend who is “afraid” of drinking scotch, this might be a safe approach to it.
The Macallan 12 Year Old was exclusively matured in selected Sherry oak casks from Jerez, Spain. No longer available in the UK, this 12 year old was a late addition to the Macallan family before the age statement range was discontinued in 2013. The nose is crisp and fresh with lots of sweetness, and the well-rounded palate contains lots of marmalade, fresh pastries sultanas and sweet peels
I compared this whisky to its sibling the double cask 12 year, and this one was a little flat, light and a little down. The nose was standard, honey, citrus and it had a little funk that I could not identify. The palate and finish were short lived. For the price of $80, there are many choices that could give you a great experience.
Not certain why its been so long since I have come back to this bottle Classic Macallan sherry on the nose...that Macallan sherry has made me a fan. Palate, Tasty, not thin despite fairly low proof but does not show it as even the finish holds its own and now I remember why this is a classic...sometime we need to be reminded
Rich mahogany, oak, sherry, syrup. This is such a wonderful drink. Rich and deep. Woody like finished oak. Caramel and toffee. Puckery barrel tannin finish. So sugary and full of brown sugar.
