About this bottle

MacNair's Lum Reek Peated Small Batch is a blended malt incorporating peated single malts from both Islay and Speyside as well as aged single malt from GlenAllachie. This no-age statement release matured in a variety of casks including first-fill bourbon, oloroso sherry, virgin oak, and red wine. Bottled at 46% ABV with no color added or chill-filtration. The name is derived from the Scottish toast: "Lang may yer lum reek" (long may your chimney smoke) which wishes someone a long life and prosperity. Glaswegian blender & distiller Harvey MacNair founded the brand in 1837 and Billy Walker at GlenAllachie revived the brand in 2018.

AnttiRG 4.0

An intense, Blended Malt Scotch Whisky by The GlenAllachie Distillery in Speyside, Scotland is a combination of peated Islay Single Malts aged in ex-Bourbon casks, peated Speyside Single Malts aged in Oloroso Sherry casks, & older GlenAllachie Single Malts aged in virgin oak & Red Wine casks. It has an aromatic birth with notes of earthy peat, thyme honey, a hint of butterscotch & flamed orange peel; while a bold life adds notes of dense smoke, dark chocolate, blackberry, currant & sea-salt caramels; that led to a long & balanced death with notes of dry cooking spices - allspice & a hint of charred oak. A peated but not particularly smoky, very light blended scotch. Some lighter notes of toast and lemon on the nose, with the peat mostly coming through not in the aromas but rather in the taste, which also includes some interestingly notes of white pepper. Not the most complex Scotch and not one I’d particularly care about drinking a whole bottle of, but nothing really wrong with this either.

Doruin 2.8

Not bad if someone gave me a glass I would drink it readily but I would not buy it it just bland. It's that in between the nose is amazing the finish is good but as you're drinking it there's nothing there might as well be water.

Flaviar Advent Calendar. Nose: smoke, grapes, sherry funk. Palate: mildly sweet, peat, oak, citrus. The funk is strong with this one...and I am a big Glenallachie fan but the sherry finish is too young and grapy.

Little smoke on the nose, but stronger in the finish. Some smoke and sweet with caramel. Odd blend to me. Not clean enough for a speyside and not smoky enough for me to love that.

FF P23 4.0

Heavily smoky peated tones with a sweet zesty and spicy hint on the palate. Peated aromas prevail on the nose. Truly enjoyable for peated whisky lovers!
