About this bottle

Originally only available in 375ml sized bottles, Maker's Mark Cask Strength is now packaged and sold in full-sized bottles. As the name suggests, it is batched and bottled at cask strength (108-114 proof). It is minimally filtered to remove wood pieces, but it is not chill-filtered so expect a fuller flavor as well as a higher proof. This cask strength expression is the base for other Maker's Mark Wood Finishing expressions. Batch 21-01 is bottled at 110.6 proof.

Another one I tasted at Oak and Steel. Previous tasting notes tell more info of my experience at this local (KCMO area) whisky bar. This specific Markers Mark bottle is 21-01 Proof 110.6 ABV 55.3% I learned a lot about Makers Mark (and whisky overall) at Oak and Steel. It sure was nice to sit and talk to the owner who knows far more about whisky than I. As for this specific bottle... Nose: Honey, Cinnamon and Apple Mouthfeel was thick and creamy. Super leggy in the glass. Flavor: Sweet, apple, cinnamon, cream and vanilla. This was my first sampling of cask strength Maker's Mark and I was quite pleased with it. It is both enlightening and frustrating to learn that finding that perfect bottle of Makers Mark means I may never find it again so I either have to buy several right away or risk only having it once in a lifetime. Its cool though because every run can be so different and unique in flavor. I really liked this one but it could take a long time or no time at all to find one I like more. This one probably would not be a run out and purchase but I sure would not turn it down either if I found it or saw it at a bar. Ratings have nothing to do with cost - just my impressions.

I absolutely loved it and can't believe it was only $40. Mini review: It's like drinking liquid carmel candy (think Werther's Original) coated in vanilla and brown sugar. Very slight burn initially but it doesn't last long or impact the flavor profile in a negative way at all. The sweet taste lingers on the back of the mouth with no smokey aftertaste.

* Nariz: Madera picante. Algo al final de frutos negros. Luego frutos secos. Con agua la nariz disminuye muchísimo. * Boca: picante anisado, cierto amargor, acetona, madera. Con hielo aparece el chocolate, y luego la vainilla y el caramelo. El amargor va desapareciendo y se va imponiendo el dulce. * Final: largo

This was batch 21-02. Good sipper for a MMCS @ 55.2 ABV. Light nose of fruits and vanilla. Big hit of spice greets the palate followed by a balance of sweetness. No real depth on the back end finish. Tried over a cube of ice, but prefer neat. Very smooth and palatable for a cask strength.

Ooohh it’s spicy. Stands up against a cigar very well
