Martell XO Cognac

I've compared this one to J.Dupont XO Art Deco side by side... In conclusion, this one is more rubust, fuller body, more fruity on nose and almost the same length of aftertaste, with totally different aromas. On nose, aromas of prune, plum, leather.. all packed with firm notes. In mouth, the body is firm, robust and spicy, but not too aggressive (may be a little for me since I normally prefer gentle to robust) with notes of black and blue fruits, fig, cedar wood, leather, cinnamon, wood... body is more massive than J.Dupont., with almost the same length of aftertaste. It's a very nice by the book XO for someone who prefer bold cognac (or bold wine).. It might be a little too bold for me, but good one by the way.

You wI'll most certainly tasterisk the price tag. A well full bodied flavor profile is all one can ask for sometimes. But the time and experience of the Martell house really shows through this bottle, with great notes of pepper, and spice blend. Does well with red meats.

I prefer this to the Cordon Bleu. From memory I rate Hennessey XO a bit ahead of this but its nice, rich spicy oaky fruit flavour. Aftertaste is good but shortish. Picked it up duty free for under $120 USD which is fair

Pepper and caramel on the nose. Taste: Initial pepper/spice melting away into plum/raisin and vanilla with lingering aftertaste of caramel, cherry, and almond. Pleasure to drink!
