The nose starts off mild with creamy oak, sweet fruit and raisins, along with hints of smoke, dried flowers, brown sugar and a vintage-style funk. It is quite unique, it has the qualities of wheated bourbon, but with the special touch of chinquapin oak which gives it that funk. The palate is equally as gentle with a wonderful chew that fills the mouth with creamy oak, sweet fruit and big helping of that funk. It is rich and flavorful, with everything in perfect harmony. There is absolutely no bite to this and the flavors only get richer, with the appearance of dark chocolate offering a great depth. Gradually, its even more velvety smooth, the flavors get richer and the sweetness starts taking on wine sweetness. There is no indication that this clocks in at over 100 proof, this is undoubtedly the smoothest bourbon I have ever tried. The finish is long, funky and rich, with flavors to endlessly chew on. You can coax a little bit of spice out of it, but in the end it is all things sweet and creamy, with an amazing funk I've only ever gotten from vintage bourbons. Truly one a kind and will be immensely missed.
