Nose: Nutty, sweet oak, and a hint of floral Palate: A creamy sweetness starts off with hints of citrus, evolving into a warming sensation of baking spices. Finish: Baking spices kicks off a short but lingering finish. Pursuit Spirits, the whiskey brand from Ryan Cecil and Kenny Coleman of the Bourbon Pursuit podcast (proclaimed the Official Podcast of Bourbon), didn't have a heritage story until they realized the facilities they set up shop in had a connection to the historic Mellwood Distillery. The Mellwood collection honors that historic brand. This bottled-in-bond expression honors Rudolph F. Balke, President of the Mellwood Distillery Company, who was a key figure in the passage of the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. This six year bourbon features a mashbill of 78% Corn, 12% Rye, 10% Malted Barley. The distillate was sourced from Rabbit Hole distillery just down the street from their Main St location in Louisville, the only location you can purchase this release. This is an excellent sipper for those who enjoy a spice-forward profile. There is good balance with some sweetness, so don't assume this is a spice bomb.
