A rich & woody Mezcal by the Alipús distillery NOM-O14X in San Andrés, Mexico. It has a floral birth with notes of agave, wood, caramelized fruits. herbs & spices; while a complex life adds notes of apple, pear, red peppers, pine, light smoke, mint leaves, a hint of beef & toasted bread; that led to long death with notes of freshly chopped cedar, white oak & a hint of sawdust. About this bottle
Alipús is a product line of traditionally made village mezcals created by the group behind the Los Danzantes (aka Los Nahuales) line of mezcals. Each expression highlights a different village and distiller. San Andrés is fermented using wild yeasts in cypress vats before it is double distilled in a copper pot still. Don Valente Angel Garcia Juárez distills this espadín mezcal in the village of San Andrés in Xitlapehua, Oaxaca.

This was my first mezcal purchase and it remains a good value. Lots a big and smoky flavors. I remember really enjoying how smoky it is. While I'm not sure I'd purchase another bottle I'd happily drink it neat, chilled, or in a cocktail if it were offered :). Should be 3.5 stars.
I am not a big fan. Very sharp, has a back of the throat burn. Burnt rubber predominates with some smoke.
