This isn't the sanitized kind of top shelf mezcal like certain DM offerings (which I also love), this is high grade Oaxacan white lightning. It's hot and somewhat blurry in its evolution. That said, it grows on you with the evolution from the yellow-green sweet nose (banana bubblegum in almost a toluene enriched race fuel way) to the dusty baked earth note hiding under the soft green grassy finish. I always find I want another taste even after being burned by the heat. Distilled by a great man, Aquilino García López, rest his gifted soul. Lot A-18-C-18 Distilled Sept. 2018
About this bottle
Cuixe agaves take up to fifteen years to mature, at which point the plant has developed a tree-trunk like stalk that can reach ten feet in height. This bottling is the only variety Aquilino makes from wild agaves; the rest are made from plants farmed by Aquilino himself or one of his neighbors.

Lot: A-06-C-16, 50.5%abv, March 2016, Aquilino Garcia Phenomal nose! Big aromas of charred agave, vegetal, light mint, mango, and vanilla. Taste follows suit with roasted agave, wintergreen mint, green bananas, and mango. Finishes minty, roasted vegetation, with a huge peppery kick. Alcohol burn is definitely present and ends slightly dry, bitter, and earthy. Mouthfeel is very creamy. This is an in-your-face, big and bold mezcal and I absolutely love it.
Aquilino García, Lot A-09-C-16, 51.7% ABV Earthy, grassy nose with a hint of smoke. Sweet roasted agave and tropical fruit on the palate with earthy undertones. Finish has earth, pepper, rubber, and vegetality that starts out small and quickly almost overpowers everything else. Alcohol heat throughout. Damned delicious but very intense and kinda rough. Not an easy drinker, this one.
Not smooth enough for me, might be tasty in a cocktail though, just a little hot for me
Very rough and harsh. Vegetal, Dry, dusty. Not for me.
Very grassy and smoky, an attack on the palate
