Good lord this is a good bourbon. Banana, vanilla and pineapple right up front. If that's the characteristic you like in your bourbon, you found it. Price is kinda high though. Something similar that's cheaper (but a little less profound) would be Old Forrester Original. Love them both.
Michter's US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon (2015 Release)
About this bottle
This is the 2nd release in this series of limited edition bottlings. Their proprietary US*1 Bourbon is given an additional finish in custom made barrels that consist of wood that is air-dried for 18 months and lightly toasted instead of charred. Though prepared in the same way as their successful 2014 release, subtle environmental changes affect the outcome of the overall whiskey.

Tasted at Haymarket in Louisville The nose is vanilla, baking spices, freshly baked bread. Thicker mouthfeel. Sweet, some caramel, some cola, and leather. A lighter finish. On the medium side. It’s good for sure, but would not seek it out or pay stupid money for it.
Drinking this room temp nice. Has a full flavor and finishes with a nice oaky taste. With a large cube, it smooths out. For just an 8 year old, I really like it. (For the record, giving anything above a 4 will be tough.
Sweeter than expected. A lot like a golden brown marshmallow over a campfire. Not where it catches fire and gets charred, but where it takes 10 min. to get it perfectly carmelized on all sides.
Figs and twigs, slight brine not much sweetness on the nose. Slight smokiness, honey and leather taste. Figs and slight brine on the finish with a medium length and a hint of smoke.
Beautiful bar at Michter's. With an 1:15 time limit in the bar. Not sue on the year. Sweet caramel flavor with with a touch of oak. Very soft finish with more notes of oak.
