Nose: like the nose, oak with a touch of vanilla, baking spices Palate: tastes much different than the nose and I’m not a huge fan. Definitely some funk there with spice. Too much oak. Finish: Thin. For the price, I would have expected a higher proof point Overall: Been a fan of MW for years and was excited to see this lineup. I like the bottle and label and I’m a fan of the cylinder it comes in). It displays nicely on my shelf. I like the regular offering a lot more from a taste profile perspective and the price is much better. To me, this is way too expensive for a below average pour. Age statement is 5 years and I believe I paid $100. Not good. Disappointed.

A dark, almost malty note, then more standard herbal rye notes, menthol, dill, then some robust oak, hay, dark fruits like plum but also a bright ding of apple similar to calvados. The finish is easy and medium to long, but a fruity, spicy and rich notes during the duration. im not sure if i like this one or the original dark pumpernickel better, while i like the fruitiness im thinking id enjoy it more without. but if you are a port finish fan, 100% go for this one.

Has some interesting flavors along with some funky flavors and the ABV is truly a disappointment for a $100 5 year young whisky that purported to be a shining example of this distillery. I wouldn't buy this again even at $50. One of the biggest disappointment's of 2024. What was this distillery thinking bringing this lackluster product to market??? Nice bottle though.

This is like a sweet, spicy loaf of pumpernickel bread with chocolate chips - and the mouthfeel is absolutely lovely. It’s everything that’s advertised and then some. Even as someone who doesn’t often love ryes, this will be a special occasion pour in my bar for a long time!

Lots of flavor, low burn, overall very enjoyable, definitely try with a cigar.
