About this bottle

Using first and second-fill American and European oak (including some recharred casks), the Mortlach Special Strength is a limited release bottling, exclusively sold in travel retail outlets worldwide. Bottled at a higher ABV than its age-statement adorned kin, the Special Strength is part of Diageo's recent efforts to move Mortlach into the forefront of the single malt world. If this means more juice coming stateside from this under-appreciated distillery, we welcome the move.

Simon Pak 3.5

nose is meaty, cinnamon, dairy, wood, alcohol sensation is also strong palate is strong in burnt wood, unlike other newer mortlachs it is not sweet finish remains more of a charcoal burnt impression

Daniel Cotton 3.8

slightly sweet, chocolate, cinammon with hints of salt. mid weight. Vague campfire smokiness, hot on the tongue, doesn't linger long.

Soba45 3.8

Good drop. Meaty, sulfuric...aftertaste is a bit astringent and lacking. I wouldn't order a bottle 3.75
