Mount Gay has a reputation as the "sailor’s rum", due to the frequent stopovers of ships at Barbados from the Atlantic Ocean on their way to trade in the Caribbean.

The upfront wood taste is very reminiscent of tamer whiskys and it feels like an old time drink. Whether you drink it straight up for that funky punch in the mouth; or you mix it with barely any cola, it feels much heartier than most rums. It’s damn tasty and worth trying.
