Natterjack Irish Whiskey

I was very surprised by this bottle. I purchased it with little information and not much expectation, looking for an Irish since I hadn't bought one in a while, I snagged this on a whim. Upon first pour the nose was amazing, standard in some respect to a good Irish but this was a nose near Green Spot level which is my ultimate Irish expression. Apples and cereal are what usually come to mind with a good Irish and this delivers. The taste also delivered on the promise of the nose, presenting both flavors I detected but rounding out to a malty, somewhat oaky finish that held on for a long time. I tasted it directly against a new West Cork Black Reserve bottle, where I was expecting that type of finish on and this blew it out of the water. I highly recommend giving this a try if you can find it.

A complex, Blended Irish Whiskey by Gortinore Distillers & Co. in County Waterford, Ireland triple distilled using Irish and American techniques & a mash bill of 20% malted barley and 80% corn; that is aged in ex-bourbon barrels before finishing in virgin American oak & being bottled at 40% ABV. It has an aromatic birth with notes of grains, wood, fruits, herbs & spices; while a slightly creamy life adds notes apple & basil; that led to a complex & warm death of medium length with notes of oak, cinnamon, orange zest, cedar & tobacco.

Flaviar Advent 2025 #22. Clear pale gold body thin legging. Spicy citrus vanilla woody tobacco aroma. Spicy woody tobacco herbal vanilla fruit flavor. Light body moderately low warming. 8/2/8/4/15 3.7

Light. Sweet. Smooth sipper. It's very nice. There's nothing overly remarkable that would make me want to drink it over another similar whisky but I'd drink it any time it's poured for me.

Tastes akin to hibiki harmony. Soft sweet vanilla forward no burn and none of the alchol burn I tend to get from younger Irish whiskeys

Straw color, light aromas of spice and tobacco. Smooth with vanilla on the finish.
