About this bottle

This second Sour Mash Single Malt from New Riff features the same mash bills comprised of 100% malted barley varietals as the first — Golden Promise, Maris Otter, Scottish peated barley malt and two beer-inspired mash bills based on Barleywine and Belgian Quadrupel recipes. But while the former used barrels aged 7-8 years, this bottling features 9 year-old barrels along with Madeira cask aged malt whiskey. It's bottled without chill-filtration at 114.5 proof. Available at the distillery's gift shop August 30, 2024 with online and retail availability to follow shortly after. (SRP $69.99)

Aged One 3.0

Chocolate madeira and sour barley nose. Tannic. Almond, nougat, lemongrass, and mossy green tea leaves. Bittered cocoa. Astringent. Solid finish. Unique take on a single malt. It's a mood pour. May like it or hate it depending on the day.

Maple nose that dives into earthy tobacco notes and barrel char on the palate with a leathery finish. So unique in an amazing way. Just missing an oily mouthfeel to be perfect.

Usually love new riff but was way disappointed by this. Sour bitter espresso. Needs some richness and sweetness.
