Balanced, juicy, the high-rye in superb balance with oak/age/corn, everything in the right place. > > Comments: New Riff's standard non-GMO Indiana-grown yellow dent corn is, in all likelihood, a distant descendant of the Yellow Leaming on display here. Yet the Leaming 1820s vintage heirloom corn seems to lend an additional depth of flavor, texture, development, and quality to our typical 65/30/5 recipe. An extra measure of density marks this Bourbon, together with a zesty, near-perfect balance of corn, spicy rye, oak, age—it's just one of the best Riffs ever!
About this bottle
This bottling is one of two heirloom grain bourbon whiskeys released by New Riff Distilling in spring 2023. This expression was made with Yellow Leaming, a Native American corn which dates back to 1824. The corn was sourced and grown by New Riff's farming partner Charles Fogg of Greensburg, Indiana. The bourbon was made with a mash bill recipe of 65% Yellow Leaming corn, 30% rye, and 5% malted barley. It was aged for 5 years and it's also bottled in bond. Available at the distillery's Aquifer Tasting bar, select Kentucky retailers, and New Riff Whiskey Club as of spring 2023. (SRP $55.99)

Perky corn notes punctuated by a hearty dose of oak char. Strong and vibrant nose. Sweet on the tongue with some rye spice kicking it up a notch. A full flavor with a rich texture leaning heavily on the cask to add depth. Fairly long finish, ending with wood. Very tasty and well done.
Tried this the same night as the blue clarage. This bib comes in less creamy, but more baking spices and dried fruit and leather. The finish is hot but not overpowering. A solid bourbon at this price point, and a good combination of flavors.
New Riff keeps knocking out the park. Love everything they're trying and this is no exception. Approachable classic and still distinct.
New Riff can do no wrong. Wasn’t sure how I would feel about the corn %, but it’s perfect.
Oily corn, oak, leather with a little pepper on the backend. Its a nice interesting pour.
