Announced in April 2023, this Yoichi 10 Year marks Nikka's first age statement release in several years. Yoichi Distillery is Nikka Whisky's first distillery built in 1934 on the coast of Hokkaido on the northernmost island of Japan. This bottling is a new expression created by Nikka's current blenders and it commemorates 10 buildings at Yoichi which were designated as Japan's "important cultural properties" in February 2022 by Japan's Agency of Cultural Affairs. This 10 year-old single malt is expected to be an ongoing release with limited quantities released annually. (SRP $175)

Think i liked this more than the old 10. The old 10 had strange mushroom funk while this one is brighter and bolder. Nose: Bananas, Marshmallows, Caramel, Apricots, Vanilla, Almonds, Cherries, Brown Sugar, Sakura, Yellow Plums, Quince Pears Palate: Bananas, Bubble Gum, Canteloupes, Smoke, Vanilla, Strawberries, Lavender, Cherries, Honey Finish: Bananas, Apricots, Vanilla, Marshmallows, Bubble Gum, Smoke
Light, yet evocative malt driven nose, with a touch of peat. Lovely entry on the palate, with a fruity, sweet and crisp character. Quite smooth and round on the tongue. As the journey progresses, more shy notes of sandalwood, whole wheat toast, pastry crust and mild pepper arrive. A semi-long finish, ending on a dry, piquant note. Overall, this is an excellent beginning to a new annual series for Nikka.
Just love this one. Still the pear characteristic of standard yoichi. Bit more sweetness and depth. But still not certain i like this better than standard yoichi, which has a tad bit more “character”

Very similar to standard yoichi but with a little more sweetness, body, richness. However it gives up a little of the light refreshingness
色は濃いめの琥珀色。ノンエイジの余市よりも濃く甘い、マンゴーやバナナのような南国のフルーツのアロマ。オークなどの樽香もノンエイジよりある。味わいがとてもまろやかでノンエイジよりスモーキー。味わいにシェリー感やタンニンもあり。
