About this bottle

This whiskey is distilled in Kentucky and bottled in Austin, Texas where it is blended with "limestone filtered water from the Texas Hill Country". Aged in charred American oak barrels. It was introduced to the market by Austin Spirits just in time for Austin City Limits festival in 2014. Its name derives from the nine-banded armadillo, Texas's official state small mammal, as well as a shout out to the Armadillo World Headquarters, a beloved, but defunct music venue in Austin.

Took a second to figure out the taste on the front end, but realize it’s from the limestone filtered water. I thought it added a nice uniqueness to the taste, though unfortunately none of the notes stay all too long.

Strong aroma of corn. Tastes the same - like white dog (new make) that’s had a barrel stave or two added for color. Probably good as a mixer but definitely not a neat sipper.

Caramel and vanilla are there but it seems flat. From the scent to the taste. Surprised after what I paid for this. Decent but doesn't do enough to buy more.

If it was priced at $20 it’d be a great whiskey but at $30 feels a bit watered down. I judged a book by its cover & missed.

Feel cheated. Some of the worst whiskey I have tasted at the price point Thin and hot. Lacks balance and complexity.

I like the limestone filtered water. Makes the whiskey different from others. I like it for the price too!!
