OKI Single Barrel (Prav barrel 34)

The nose starts with charred oak, buttered toast, smoke, leather and the faintest hints of baking spices. It doesn't give away too much, making the first sip very curious. It doesn't evolve much, save for a bit of floral notes that end up emerging, otherwise it stands still. The palate starts off with a burst of spice backed up by dried flowers as it spreads throughout the mouth. There is a bit of a chew to it that keeps the spice going in a very delicious way. Further sips give way to a nice touch of creamy oak and brown sugar. It all comes together in a great balance. This is an incredibly solid whiskey, not fading or dropping off at all. Each sip remains as good as the last. The finish is medium, chewy and creamy. The mouth gets acclimated to the spice, allowing you to really experience all of the nuances. It is quite delicious and dangerously easy to sip. Really quite stellar for a 6 year bourbon.
