About this bottle

This expression is an homage to the D. Canale & Co. warehouse at Huling Station in Memphis, TN where spirits made by Domenico Canele were housed circa 1866. This high-rye mash bill bourbon is produced as a throwback to that style. It is bottled at 100 proof.

Nose: leather and cigar. Smells like a bourbon was meant to smell. Palate: I’m getting cherry and vanilla initially. Quite a burn for a 100 proof. Finish: short finish. Not a lot to say about it other than that. Saw someone compare the finish to furniture polish (in a good way) and didn’t understand. After tasting I totally get it. Hard to explain, but that is exactly the best way to describe this bourbon. Overall: An average bourbon initially. I’m interested in seeing how time and possibly a little water or a cube of ice will bring out the flavor. Will revisit soon.

Strong perfume and floral on the nose. After a few minutes of rest I get a slight sweet tart and cherry. First sip has similar cherry, with oak and char. Ice pulls out some of the original floral and a slight vanilla not previously noticed. I like this one no matter how it’s offered. Good offering.

Roasted corn, oak, vanilla, pear, plum, cherry, barrel spice and rye nose. Sweet and spicy on the palate, with oak, caramel, rye, cinnamon, barrel spices and a long peppery finish. Fruity with aspects reminiscent of Christmas desserts. Dessert-like finish.

They managed to capture the spicy rye flavor with a very smooth, low burn. Thin mouth feel and short finish are the only downsides. Not bad at all considering I'm tasting it out if a plastic cup. But hey, guess that's Beale st.

On the nares its spicy and fruity with notes of baked cinnamon pear, cherries, green apple. On the palate i get brown sugar, smoke, toasted bread, spiced apple, salted caramel. Thanks @Looneyhead

First pour, on the nose I get maple, baking spices, on the palate I get rye spice and it finishes like a stick of big red chewing gum. Looking forward to seeing how this opens up.
