Loving this nose. Brown sugar, spiced carrot cake, oak, maple syrup, a little leather and peanut shell. Aromas are forward with a nice intensity. No ethanol. Can smell this for hours. Deep and rich with a beautiful mouthfeel and warm palate. Entry is so smooth. Cream soda, toffee, sweet cinnamon, and honey roasted peanuts right off the bat with rich, sweet oak coming before the finish. Black tea, dark chocolate, and cinnamon rolls go on for minutes. This is so well balanced. I'm loving this more than the 15 year (only 2 I've tried) with the sweeter profile. It still has the rich, round, and softer profile I look for in a wheated bourbon but the flavors are more forward and are beautifully blended. One of the best I've had in 2021
Old Fitzgerald 8 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon (Spring 2021)
About this bottle
Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond 8 Year is the seventh release in the bottled in bond decanter series which first began with a spring 2018 release. Old Fitzgerald is a wheated bourbon produced by Heaven Hill and this bottled in bond version was distilled in one distillation season (spring 2013). The bourbons were pulled from three different rickhouses on different floors and from two different production dates. Aged for 8 years before bottling in spring 2021, this release bears a green label as other spring releases have done. It is bottled at 100 proof.

#2 in my New Year's lineup. Was after an 11 year OF when I came across this, with slightly higher ratings I figured I'd pick it up. Just cracked her open. Nose: not a lot sweetness, leather and oak. Taste budzz: not overly complex and very balanced to the point where nothing is jumping out. Very smooth, a perfect sipper. Really enjoying this and can't wait to see how it opens up in time. Giving it a 4.25 for now, will revisit with a little time.
Just a well executed wheated bourbon, nothing that blows my mind. Well balanced and good flavors. I’ve had it twice now and had the same impression both times. most recently side by side with OWA. It was pretty similar to that, but a bit more earthy on the nose and palate. Good drinker, beautiful packaging.
Love heaven hill releases, and excited to finally try the bonded Old Fitzgerald line (those decanters!) This is the first release of the 8 year, spring line. Mellow vanilla nose, hints of brown sugar. Super oily palate with some oak and some tobacco-type spice. Little bit of cacao on finish.
Nose: Rye bread, raspberry, baking spices Palate: More baking spices, oak, tobacco I don't love this one? Completely disagree with the Distiller review. The sweetness fades FAST to me...kind of tastes like the spice cabinet. Maybe my palate is off tonight.
First thing I noticed was the complexity of the interwoven flavors. Apricot, orange marmalade, butterscotch, oak, some leather and baking spice to balance this bourbon. This one is just right!
