This was a father’s day gift from my wife who knows me too well. A very special indulgence that I probably would not have purchased for myself because of the hefty price tag, which influenced my lowering the rating a bit. If you remove the price tag, this is an exquisite expression by any measure. Another note is that the ABV is a bit higher than most whiich also flows through to the finish. Bottom line is that this one is not worth the $. I prefer the Weller 12 year for half the price

A rich, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey aged for a minimum of 10 years in new charred American white oak barrel & bottled at 94.4 proof. It has a bold aromatic birth with notes of grain, wood, fruit & spices; while a rich life adds notes of sweet corn, cherry, marmalade, dark toffee, maple syrup & vanilla; that led to a balanced death of medium length with notes of charred oak, bread, tobacco, leather & earth. October 2023
It tastes like you had some cheap tobacco and the only thingbyou have to smome it out of is a water bong and you took the water to make coffee and then put it through a filter. Once that process was done you took some well aged Old forester and tempered it with the filtered tobacco coffee bong water. It was a 23 A batch that I disappointingly tried. Not very good on the palate at all. Nose was fantastic.
Richer more flavorful and viscous than usual 10 year looks darker and tastes older than 10 years. Nose: Caramel, Maple Syrup, Pecan Pie, Honey, Mint Chocolate, Apricots, Vanilla, Toasted Marshmallows, Butterscotch Palate: Caramel, morello cherries, Nutmeg, licorice, cinnamon, butterscotch, toffee, maple Syrup, dark chocolate, Pumpkin Pie Finish: Pecans, Ginger, Zested Oranges, Maple Syrup
“A” Barrel Nose: dusty, seasoned oak. Vanilla, touch of licorice. Way more powerful than expected for a 94 proof. Palate: savory character. Drinks higher than 94 proof, good mouthfeel. One dimensional but really hammers the oak not perfectly. Depth if flavor without being overpowering Finish: dark chocolate, bitter espresso. More dusty oak 8 on the t8ke scale
The more I drink this, the better it gets! The nose is out of control with everything that comes flying at you. Caramlized sugar, molasses, baked apples and caramel. The palate is rich, you get the tenured oak and caramlized fruits. Finish is a little quick, but its damn good.
