Old Forester 150th Anniversary Bourbon Batch 02 is one of three batches released to celebrate the date in which founder George Garvin Brown sold the first bottled bourbon. Brown changed the whiskey industry by selling his whiskey in bottle rather than by the barrel as was the custom. Master distiller Chris Morris selected 150 barrels for this bottling and at maturation, several had lost all its liquid to the angel's share. Master taster Jackie Zykan batched the three bourbons, each of which are unfiltered and bottled at batch strength. Batch 02 consists of 48 barrels and is bottled at 63.2% ABV.

This has very similar notes to my single barrel barrel proof I have at home on the shelf - only it is certainly smoother. A finish that heats gently and fades away with the subtle notes of old forester that I love. Fantastic and certainly worth a try, but not worth the secondary price
You can tell this is a barrel proof right off the bat.... Nose: Dark cherry, berry, and banana, as most of the OF brand. Taste is even more cherry and banana, peppery cherry cola finishes this off... And the burn abruptly drops off the back end. A great finish, if not a little lacking.
Perhaps the highest abv beverage I’ve ever tasted. Understandably hot but I don’t really get the point of having to cut it with water when it could just be balanced to optimal abv before bottling. Hard to judge given how strong it is.
Vanilla and oak dominate the nose. It’s dry and sweet with a powerful oaky note with vanilla and baking spices. Spicy and full flavored.

This was my least favorite of the 150 anniversary batches. All cough syrup.
