The nose starts with charred oak, cherry syrup, rye spice, along with notes of vanilla and molasses that follow behind. It is a wonderful dessert like nose, really tempting you to take a sip. The palate is somewhat dry and fills the mouth with charred oak, cherry syrup and earthy rye spice. The spice builds as you savor it, but never gets to a point of being too much. This is a young, wonderfully spicy bourbon, that also highlights the smoother qualities Old Forester can have. The finish is medium long with a lingering charred oak and cherry syrup that is almost astringent but doesn't cross the line into being unpleasant. Everything else fades nicely away to make this very easy to enjoy.
