I took a chance on this cask strength store pick as I tend to do whenever I spot a new-to-me American Single Malt. This is a great example of what’s becoming the standard ASM style of a 100% malted barley spirit aged in new American oak instead of used oak like a typical single malt from the UK or Japan. Huge oak flavors, cherry, leather - they’ve developed a lot of complexity in a short amount of time in-barrel. I’ve since picked up a local group pick of the cask strength as well as a sherry cask finished variant so I’m pretty onboard with what they’re doing!

Duly impressed by the intensity and depth for such a young product. Nose of brown sugar and burnt oak. Oaky flavors dominate but an underlying sweetness balances things out. Great neat or with a couple drops
Nice dark amber color. Aroma has hints of vanilla. With high ABV has nice burn. Definitely taste the oak. A few drops of water bring out the intensity. Really good stuff for a short aged whiskey.
Heavy wood and caramel in the nose, the palate is intense with baking spices (fitting for the abv) but has a nice depth of flavors with grain and vanilla showing up slightly on the finish
Excellent American single malt! Flavors of toasted oak with charred vanilla/brown sugar. Highly recommended and easy on the wallet
brown sugar and spice are more prominent. sweeter (after a few drops) than the base. toffee and bran flakes.
