The nose starts off with a rich burst of charred oak and vanilla, with subtle notes of floral rye and ripe fruit in the background. The entirety is soft but inviting. The palate is chewy and very slightly dry. It fills the corners of the mouth with pepper, while waves of rye spice and charred oak cascade around the mouth. There are ever so subtle hints of ripe as you chew. It is a wonderfully smooth drink that leaves with a certain creaminess that is so enjoyable to savor. The finish is medium long with a linger spice as oak and cream slowly fade. For only being 5 years old, it definitely punches above it's weight. Everything you could want in a delightful sipper, especially one at cask strength. Quintessential bourbon.
