This is a high-rye straight bourbon from Cathead Distillery's Old Soul line of whiskeys. It was distilled in Indiana with a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley. After 7 years of aging in Mississippi, it was bottled at a cask strength of 119.2 proof. This is the first in the brand's Tintype Series and features an image of blues legend Captain Luke Mayer on the label. Released in November 2021 with 1,100 cases produced.

A potent bourbon in all aspects. High rye nose, with vanilla, caramel, pear, cinnamon, crème brûlée, berries and charred oak. Initially quite hot and spicy on the palate, but once the mouth adjusts it mellows into rich and spicy cinnamon, vanilla, char, rye, caramel, cherry and pear. Hot out of the gate, but give it time. Really nice stuff. Long spicy finish.
I could go on and on about this pour. Butterscotch bomb!! Heavy Caramel and vanilla nose. Creme brûlée and toffee on the palate. Long delicious finish. It leaves your whole mouth tasting good. 4.5/5 an absolute hitter
Tried neat with @Looneyhead …Hot initially but after a couple chews and hugs it mellows out. I get notes of vanilla, cinnamon, oak. Delicious. Short rating, family time. But delicious

Sweet, with some bite and spice. Fruity, sweet aftertaste. Sweet caramel smell.
Very nice on the nose. Not real smooth has a big kick at the end.
