Open 2 months Nose - Shiny, bright, acetone, caramel, vanilla extract, cinnamon powder, sawdust, juniper, light oak, and medium ethanol. Palate - Astringent and sharp, spoonful of cinnamon, wood oils, cheap vanilla frosting, pine sap, and light honey. Finish is medium-long with oily and bitter oak, light and bitter caramel vanilla, dusty woodshop, white pepper, baking spices, and medium ethanol. I really want to emphasize how much worse this is than the 8Y vertical single barrel I purchased this summer. They are shockingly different. I paid $90 for the single barrel and do not regret it. I am so glad this was on clearance for $40, because $90 is a ripoff. I wouldn't even pay $30 for this. There's something about the combination of sharp and oily notes that sits on the tongue far too long. In fact, I'm giving it away before I move.

Chocolate drizzle pecan pie topped with cherry.. if you loved the 7 year this is better. Tons of spice, oak is finally coming through. The nose is mapley tho but not on the palate
Nose: some grain, oak, vanilla Palette: burnt sugar up front, more oak, some anise, peanut, some sort of candied nut, finish is long and lovely.
Great flavor while in the mouth. However a hard burn going down. Your mouth left is tingling. Not aure if that is a good thing or not.
It’s a little hot but it’s also 114.6 proof. Amazing flavors, will definitely try to keep a bottle on my shelf.
