BARREL No. // VTO-007 PROOF // 119.30 AGE // 9yr 3mo ALC // 59.65 DISTILLED // 1-14-2016 (in indiana) BOTTLED // 4-2025 MASHBILL // 75/21/4 NEAT NOSE - Caramel, Cherries, Twizzlers or Red Vines PALATE - This has a smooth and silky mouthfeel. This drinks well under it’s proof. The caramel and cherry are up front with the sweet licorice note coming through after. Everything melds together and carries through to a sweet finish. FINISH - Sweet honey and vanilla with a hint of spice. Long finish. BUY? - Yes! I like this considerably more than the other two Kentucky barrels I’ve had (K45 & VER). This is much more complex and nuanced than those two. I still have a KOA to crack but this VTO is really exceptional. While this is MGP, its aged in Kentucky in Kelvin Char 4 barrels. Needless to say, I’ll be keeping my eye out for more VTOs! BUY AGAIN? - I wish I could. These sold out like hotcakes.
