Nose - buttercream frosting, almond, butterscotch, cinnamon, corn, maple syrup, vanilla, honey, moderate ethanol burn. Taste - butterscotch, cinnamon, buttercream frosting, honey, vanilla sweet cream, maple syrup, corn, almond, low alcohol bite, finishing quick, bright, and syrupy sweet like an unhealthy breakfast, similar to the E&J XO brandy I recently tried. Overall, it’s better than I expected. Granted, it’s massively dosed with flavorings, but doesn’t present as cloyingly disgusting as you’d imagine. I could see this being a good cola mixer, but not much outside of that.

I decided to give Redneck Riviera another try especially after John Rich’s song “Take Your Progress and Put It Where the Sun Don’t Shine” came out. I was initially a little harsh, but feel that this whiskey is right at average. Aroma of vanilla and honey. Nothing special on the front end. Smooth. Sweet with a little heat. A good effort for a blended bourbon. Easy to drink straight up. I prefer my bourbon to have more body on the front end.

Blue Bull 2.0

Nose of those plastic glue bubbles from a small toothpaste tube that you blow up on the end of a little red straw and Isopropyl alcohol. The nose is so sparse that I think I can smell my ice cubes over it. Mouthfeel of a glycerin suppository. Palate is sterile and astringent. Vanilla and an oaken dryness slip in briefly, but quickly vaporizes into nothingness. Better mix this one with some soda and turn up the country music a little louder.

Redneck Riviera, 80 proof, bottled in Oregon. 95% american light whisky aged 2 years, 5% 1 year american malt whisky. Aroma: light vanilla, sweetness, minor oak. Taste: minor barrel notes, minor sweetness (vanilla), some astringency. Very average. Cost: 17-18 + tax on sale, overpriced in my opinion, other places might have this for an even higher price. This should be a budget whisky but is marketed otherwise. Grade: C range.

Nose: Grain alcohol, honey, some type of wood. Taste: Grain alcohol, mineral water, very slight honey. Finish: Don't blink and weird 1-2 minute after taste. Probably a mixer for most, it'll be a dusty before long. But if you let it sit for about a 30 minutes you get Crown Royal Bourbon Mash. Go figure.

Neat. Nose is pleasant. Honey, red apple, vanilla, caramel, light oak. Flavor is light, fruity, slight oak, vanilla, a little green herbs like mint ,touch of cinnamon heat. Finish is short and easy. Some saccharine and oak. Not complex, but very easy to drink for non whiskey lovers
