About this bottle

This is the debut of what J. Rieger & Co. plans to continue as a series of bottled-in-bond rye releases. It consists of a 96% rye and 4% malted barley mash bill and was put to barrel in the fall of 2015 - with all aspects of production taking place at the J. Rieger & Co. facility in the Electric Park district of Kansas City. The release is meant to coincide with KC's 816 Day on August 16, 2021 which celebrates the city's area code. Approximately 6,000 bottles are available as of that date.

Light nose with a hint of grain. Beautiful amber color. Silky mouth feel. Orange flavor right off with a slight biscuit taste that moves quickly to heat. I hunted for the pepper but never found it. Orange licorice sticks around briefly at the end. Smooth from start to finish. I’d buy this one again.

Super impressed with Rieger's first all distillery release! Nose is all cinnamon apple spice šŸ˜‹ Palate is Bold classic rye: spice, grass, creamy apple cinnamon. Medium finish, not as crisp as some ryes but not as long and heavy as some bourbon The 6 year age statement is just šŸ˜˜šŸ‘Œ

Solid Rye with notes of clove, pine, and spices Slight burn.

Big Ben M9 4.5

Spicy up front, incredibly smooth finish.
