About this bottle

Mortlach was established in Speyside 1823 by George Cowie and his son Dr. Alexander Cowie. It was used primarily as a blending whisky, but recently Diageo has released different expressions as solo projects. This expression is the only one of the new bunch aged exclusively in refill American oak casks with no sherry contact.

Fruity with an unfortunately strong stale bread flavor. Maybe with the complexity I can accept that though? This is a sweet drink. The complexity includes toffee, almond, honey, smoke, peat. Too much iodine >

88 points. Very alcohol driven nose, grassy profile that has little character. A bit sad for a scotch of this caliber and year.
