Nose - licorice, peppermint hard candy, high ethanol burn. Taste - sweet black licorice, spicy peppermint, syrupy cinnamon, mild to moderate alcohol bite, finishing long with lingering syrupy licorice, peppermint, and cinnamon flavors. It’s similar to Fireball, in that it’s a one trick pony, but this is much more refined. The texture is thick and extremely oily, almost silky. While I won’t be running to the store to pick up a bottle, it’s a refreshing departure from the usual.

Sambuca truly tastes like if you made gumdrops into a drink. The biggest downside for me is that it is very sweet and syrupy, headache inducingly so if you know what I mean. I love anise/licourice flavor, and I think Sambuca nails that aspect. Personally though, I would pick Absinthe over Sambuca anyday, due to it not being so loaded with sugar and considering whatever the interesting quality it is that the wormwood adds to it
This was always my go to buca. Its bursting with black licorice flavor as it should be but you can taste the quality over the lesser brands. Its smooth and delicious over crushed ice and very addictive. If you are a fan of black licorice this is almost as good as it gets. 80/100 This went to war with the black version but ultimately lost. Not a slight, if the black isn't available in your area this is next best thing
A rich, herbal liqueur from Italy, that is an infusion of witch elder bush & licorice. It has an aromatic birth with notes of herbs & spices, while a rich & full life led to a sweet death of medium length. September 2017
It has a clear appearance. The aroma is of strong anise. The flavor is similar and very sweet. The body is medium, with a syrupy mouthfeel. It finishes semi sweet. RJT
viscous and very sweet, masks the heat and anise flavors that shine through in a Greek Ouzo (which I prefer).
