Efe Fresh Grape Raki

My second Turkish raki, so while I'm not expert, I do have point for comparison, and I've had raki from other countries in the Mediteranean. Tasted neat and with an ice cube. Clear and viscous in the class. Nose is grape must and anise, but not distinct. In the mouth, alcohol and harsh herbal notes overwhelm the anise, that doesn't really shine until the finish. Thin watery mouthfeel with some grape must and wine sweetness. Not much loach with an ice cube, so not very pretty. Finish is light anise that fades to sour quickly. After a half hour of sipping, it has grown on me, as acquired tastes do. That doesn't mean it's great. Compared to the Yeni Raki I've been drinking, this is rough around the edges, more like the less refined raki-types I've had in Croatia, Greece, and eastern Europe.

Very good Raki, pleasantly sweet, fragrant anise flavor, refreshing on the rocks.
