Added a splash of chilled water in Norlan glass. It is absolutely delicious so this bottle will not last long. Fortunately I live “near” New Riff Distilling which is the only place you can purchase it. Wow! I will use the New Riff descriptors since they are fitting! APPEARANCE Rich, viscous, dark amber color. NOSE Dark red fruits and rye spice, rounding into aged oak, with hints of vanilla and cinnamon. TASTE Deep, full mouthfeel, flowing briefly into dark brown sugars, then wood spices and tannins. FINISH Extensive, spicy oak and rye, with macerated berries and a peppery dry finish. For the 2024 edition of Silver Grove Bourbon, we explored how whiskeys age, with barrels coming from the top two floors of our five story rickhouse in Newport, Kentucky. This aging in the hottest part of the warehouse led to powerful flavors and a somewhat elevated proof of 116.2. As with all New Riff spirits, Silver Grove Bourbon is bottled without chill filtration. For a typical New Riff Bottled in Bond Whiskey, we carefully vat together barrels from multiple batches stored all over the rickhouse, seeking to obtain a broad and consistent "New Riff style" for each bottling run. For the 2024 Silver Grove Bourbon, we highlighted the more extreme environment of the upper floors. Barrels that live their whole lives on the higher floors present at a higher proof, appear darker/richer, and have a bit more aggressive, elevated and concentrated flavors, especially when it comes to spiciness and rich wood flavors. 2023 Silver Grove was our first barrel strength blend, and the 2024 release continues that trend, as our only barrel strength Bourbon blend to date. Silver Grove Bourbon is available exclusively at the New Riff Distillery Gift Shop and The Aquifer Tasting Room. A portion of the proceeds from every bottle sold benefis the Silver Grove Community Foundation.
