Slane Special Edition Extra Virgin Oak

I'll start with this is good! If you like Irish whiskey you will not be disappointed. When I got this I had never heard of it, I didn't have high expectations, they were proper at best and I was pleasantly surprised that it's so much better. I think it easily contends with most other Irish options you'll find, especially for the price. Up front, Slane is very Irish and if you like Irish drinks it perfectly hits all the Irish notes and as you travel to the finish you'll enjoy a nice trip through the Ireland countryside. The finish is unique to me, I've never tasted anything like it in a whiskey, not sure how to describe it other than it stands out and it's good. I am very interested and excited to see what this distillery can create, I think they can be trailblazers for some great flavors.

Quite smooth, almost creamy in its delivery. Rich malt entry along with a pop of sherry adds a touch of solera funk to the overall profile. Medium bodied with heavy leanings toward vanilla and caramel. The slightly higher proof adds a bit of spice to the mix, creating an autumnal character. This is a winner for shots, mixers or simply enjoyed on the rocks. Have a few glasses while listening to the Spotify playlist. 

VERY bourbon cask forward. Strong with the caramel, vanilla and malt funk. Some sherry apparent. Different from the regular Slane release but at least as good.

as in review, this is a savory drink. great mid-range, just sweet enough to make it very pleasant. solid pour 👍
