💹 Smokeye Hill Barrel Proof Straight Bourbon Whiskey Heirloom Blue Corn at 132.4 Proof đŸ„ƒ đŸ„ƒ Welcome back, Bourbon Buds! đŸ„ƒ You’ve landed once again at Belmont Bjorn’s Bourbon Banter, where the pours are potent, the facts are fire, and the banter never takes itself too seriously. Tonight’s pour? A beast. A banger. A barrel-proof bruiser. Say hello to Smokeye Hill Barrel Proof Straight Bourbon Whiskey—specifically, the 134.2 proof edition of their small batch series. And folks
this one ain’t here to whisper sweet nothings. It came to kick the saloon doors open and drop caramel bombs on your palate. đŸ’ŁđŸŻđŸ”„ âž» đŸ”„ A Little Bourbon Backstory: Smokeye Hill’s barrel proof series ranges from 131.0 all the way up to this flamethrower at 134.2, and here’s the kicker—the “low end” 131.0 won Best Small Batch Bourbon at the ASCOT Awards (shout out to the American Spirits Council of Tasters 🏅). That’s right—5 votes went to Smokeye’s 131.0
👋 Bye-bye, George T. Stagg (2 votes) 👋 Sorry, Ben Holladay Rickhouse Proof (3 votes) Smokeye Hill stole the show—and that same award-winning magic is likely swirling right here in this 134.2-proof beauty. Oh, and let’s not forget: 🏆 Double Gold Winner at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC). That’s like the Olympics for bourbon, and Smokeye Hill came home with gold around its neck. âž» 📩 Now for the Bourbon Nerds (you know who you are 😏):    ‱   Distillate sourced from the legendary Ross & Squibb (formerly MGP) out of Lawrenceburg, Indiana    ‱   Barreled, aged, and bottled by Hazelwood Spirits Co. in beautiful Colorado Springs, CO    ‱   Aged over 5 years, this bourbon blends 20–30 barrels, both 30-gallon and 53-gallon, with chars ranging from #2 to #5. That means flavor layers on flavor layers—sweet oak, deep spice, roasted caramel, and maybe a little Colorado mountain swagger. đŸ”ïžđŸ„ƒ âž» đŸŽ„ For the full tasting, my reactions, and a couple dad jokes that probably went too far—check out the video! 👉 Smash that SUBSCRIBE button like it owes you a pour 👉 Drop a LIKE if you love high-proof heat 👉 SHARE with your bourbon-loving crew, your curious cousin, or anyone who thinks “barrel proof” just means “dangerous” (they’re not wrong, but still) Thanks for riding along on this bourbon journey. Nose is deep and rich caramel with hints of molasses, nutty dark chocolate, slight coffee. Early corn / soil note on it too - almost comes out as a granola Palette is as rich as the nose. All this dark flavors from the nose, but with much more of a molasses sweetness. Moving into the finish there is a slight smokiness that rolls into kind of a woody off flavor on the finish
pretty minute though, just slightly over oaked. A nice heat comes in on the finish that rolls into a dark caramel finish that hangs. Very good overall, but I don’t thin up to the hype. T8ke: 7.4

Aroma - butterscotch and vanilla are the first things I pick up. Cake notes pop up as well. Proof is obvious. It’s got a funky oak profile that I can’t decide if I like it or not
it’s unique Taste - nice transfer to the palate. Picking up the butterscotch and vanilla. Oak presence is nice. As it opens, a really nice toasted marshmallow notes pop starts to come through. Slightly dry note in finish. Overall - it’s nice. Sweet, rich and bold. Great viscosity. Great price. It’s definitely something to take slowly as it is quite hot and the proof isn’t masked. 4.6

NEAT NOSE - Blueberries, Oak, Caramel, and Vanilla PALATE - Rich, warm, and chewy mouthfeel with thick, rich caramel covered berries. The oak is more of an afterthought. FINISH - Long finish. Vanilla and something slightly off-putting that I can’t describe. It’s most prominent when exhaling. Thankfully, its not too overpowering. BUY? - Absolutely. BUY AGAIN? - Absolutely.

This is very good! It allegedly beat George T. Stagg in a blind tasting at the ASCOT awards this year. Luckily i have both and did a head to head. Not even close, this has a youthfullness on the back end that can’t be ignored. Its rich and sweet upfront with a kiss of corn and vanilla. Its worth the price tag.

Incredible bottle. After hearing word of how good it was i found a bottle and its not just hype. I immediately went looking for a backup. A little sweet but complex flavors with maple and vanilla maybe some strawberry. Its hard to pin down but very good.
